Hi ImTheJoker4u2
Bet a supercharger would blow out a headgasket on an Essex engine in seconds, you would probably be able to claim an entry in the Guiness Book of Records for the fastest blown headgasket :D

Wonder what would be involved in fitting it to a front wheel drive setup? It's designed for a Mustang and can fit a birdcat, but I don't see anything about the Taurus platform.

clearance at the front (right) of the engine (less than 2 inches at the water pump pulley), lower intake is backwards in comparison (water outlet on 'rear' (left) side of engine), hood clearance, and of course, all the custom brackets that will need to be fabbed

Not really dereck, but then again, the SC engines had upgraded bolts and different torque specs too. May have even had different material in the gasket..

We had a member attempting to do this. IIRC it was Dusty. Don't quote me on that though. Lots of issues that I don't believe ever got worked out.

Actually, believe it or not, but the SC had a different block, different heads, the heads were heat treaded differently, the bolts, the gaskets, and a lot of other odds and ends.
On www.taurusclub.com, there was a member who went by DMX I believe who put an M90 from the Thunderbird SC onto his 3.8L Taurus.

yea, I know there were some differences in the block and heads, but they were still iron/alum. and similar (not identical) castings.

Yeah - I'm the one working on it......in theory at least. :)
It's been put on hold for lack of $8,000 cash lying around. :-p

I'd rather go all motor 4.2 or 4.4L.

You're right, it'll be a heck of a lot easier as well.
The problem with forced induction for the FWD 3.8 is space - or the lack thereof.
With the stroker, you're getting the extra power in the same engine area.
So, that seems to be the direction I'm going in.
