The Mark VIII has a manual release on the passenger side wall of the trunk and so far as I know, all Ford vehicles with an electric release have the same setup.

Pop the trunk and reach around behind where the fuel door is. You'll find a slit in the carpet, behind which is the cord to release it - the cord is suppsed to be stuck out through the slit, but I'm guessing since you don't see it that it got pulled behidn.

Talk to Max at Five Star Ford for your fuel door button. Not sure if you can get colors or not, but should be pretty cheap.

Just bought it thursday, and it was recalled friday!:) Tore a lot of the paneling off the passenger side trunk at gas station next to sale point. Never found it. Ended up prying switch out, sliding connector back and screwdrivering the switch. Got me home!:)
I'll look a little harder..:)
