There's some great high resolution photos

Sounds like Lincoln is actually going to have a luxury car without cheap materials. The exterior design of the car looks good too. It's about time they offer some up-to-date options in their cars.

The MKS is a result of a one night stand between a Lexus and Acura .

The current lincoln vehicles are great looking especially the MKZ and the MKX except the MKS(Lexus wannabe) .

Nice updated mid-size cars.

The taillights on the MKZ are too big for my taste. They just seem oversized/overstated; kinda like the Oldsmobile Alero. However, the rest of the car inside and out is very appealing.

The MKS is an odd addition, IMHO. Does Lincoln really need two new mid-size cars in their lineup? The MKS looks to me like the roofline fo the Volkswagen Passat (Ford FiveHundred / Taurus), the rear deck from the previous generation Chrysler 300, and a new Lincoln front clip. This is not a bad combination, just the design elements that I see. I'd like to see it in person.

Still waiting for the TC replacement. Lincoln can't just abandon that market to the DTS and (God help us) the Chrysler 300 long wheelbase.

There are no currently no plans to update the TC or the DTS. Both will be cancelled in the next 2-3 years.

It'll be the Chrysler 300 and Lincoln MKS for a while.

The MKS remains unimpressive to me. The last new Lincoln I wanted to buy new was the LS. Robert Cumberford's styling analysis of the car in Automobile was spot on.

I just read that Cadillac is planning on building a replacement for the DTS on the rear drive platform of the Holden/Pontiac G8.

The new car will be the DTZ, and I think it's to replace the DTS & the STS.

well, speaking for myself..........ME LIKEY :)

I saw a commercial for the MKS last night and it is a seductive beast to be sure. There's just one thing wrong with it: I can't afford one (crying real tears, lol!) But, I can look, I can touch, I can plan for when they depreciate and then pick one out :)

When I bought my '03 Cartier last Feb. the dealer told me that '08 was the last year for the T/C. But, I see on the LEFTLANE website the '09 T/C ???? Anyone have any reliable info? For me, (a septagenarion) they could continue making the same T/C, with upgrades, forever. Just love that rooooommmy cabin, and that silky ride. Uuummmm!!!:D

Leftlane is right, your dealer can order the TC for 2009. After that, who knows...

Yeah I saw that ad on Canadian channels. Does the keypad actually make tones?

Anyway, I don't hate the MKS. The problem lies in its inability to really stand out and say "Hey I'm a Lincoln!" It's sad, really. The cowcatcher grill is a little garish for my tastes and the rest of the body doesn't speak much. I do like the more minimalist approach of the interior, though. I just hope that long piece of plastic stretching from the centre console to the base of the climate control isn't cheap and hard.

Give up hope. :)

And why Lincoln didn't put wood trim on the door panels is anyone's guess.

I gotta say, for all the criticism of it being just a Volvo... I'm reading enough about it that I am getting slightly impressed. They put a lot of effort into making it dead silent? That'll set it apart. And if they follow through with a forced induction model? This thing may actually do the trick.

What we have to remember is that we are not Lincoln's target audience; the target audience is indeed people who are... less aware of their surroundings. Ok, I can't say it nicely: the average car buyer is stupid. Since they're going after the average car buyer, as long as they can impress with a nice ride, good styling, and a good interior, then it will pass muster for 90% of the market.

And that's worked wonders for Buick and their "Quiet Tuning."

The Ecoboost 3.7L will certainly help, but its a little early to tell if it will be enough to compete in the 40-50k price range. Lincoln hasn't done well at this price point in over a decade, and competition is even tougher/more entrenched today.
