I just wanted to post a note of thanks for the EGR channel cleaning article found here:

My wife has a 95 Town Car Executive; her check engine light came on and the codes led me to that article. I had never gotten that "deep" into a modern engine before, so I was hesitant, but I eventually succeeded.
The first time I put everything back together, I must have shifted the gasket and broke the seal, because it sputtered and died when I cranked it up. I took everything apart and reassembled it (this time taking great care with the gasket!) and it fired right up and ran smooth.
The EGR channel was ultra gunked up and completely blocked.
