Just got a 94 TC EX and the buttons on the climate control are either melted or worn off. Hate to see what temp they had it set at LOL.
I found a used one and its on the way. Has anyone changed one and what is the process?
Thanks in advance and this is a great forum!:)

It's very easy to get in there to change. The buttons are very bad about cracking just from normal pressure to push them. Most all of mine are broken. It's just several screws and a few trim pieces and your in there.

I did this just for fun recently myself :) Here is the process (bear with me here, I can help you if you get confused.)
Use this tech article to remove your fascia panel.
http://www.lincolnsonline.com/tech/00176.html
After that is done, your EATC (Climate Control Module) will be exposed as well as the plastic "appearance" piece that makes it look nice when your dash was still all one piece ;)
1. Remove the two screws on the top (IIRC) of the Climate control module plastic surround.
2. pull the plastic cover off, exposing the EATC module.
3. remove the (4) 7 mm screws securing the module in place.
4. pull the module out of its place GENTLY!!
5. when you get a lot of tension, STOP!
6. turn the face of the module away from you, so you cna see the back of the module. ( It is going to be a bit cramped, so take your time) :)
7. unplug both electrical connectors fro mthe module.
8. remove two (2) nuts holding the vacuum lines in place.
9. pull off the vacuum line.
10. Use the old module for target practice.
After that bit of fun ;) resume your work :)
11.reconnect the vacuum line, screw in the two nuts that secure the line into the back of the module, re-plug in the electrical connectors, and reverse peocedure, and all is well. :)
(sorry of this looks complicated, its actually a VERY easy procedure.

Hi...My only addition would be once you are electrically connected power it up and make sure all the lights are good, change out bad ones before installation.
Sigseries did you try that junkyard yet?

my buttons are the same way, does anyone make a replacement front panel to this or do we have to just find good used ones?

IIRC, you can either find a used one in better shape, OR
Find a updated hard button one in a old car (rare depending on area), OR
Buy a new one (IIRC, a member posted here about it running around $500.00.

figures the older cars were better. i found that the bezels that hold the power window switches in the doors were made of plastic and broke easily, yet the older cars were made from a stronger "pot metal". the woodgrain trim popped right off them both and swapped over to keep the proper look. just gotta find a junk yard that hasnt crushed the cars for scrap (everyone by me has been smashing everything)

They won't break as long as you don't FORCE any of the switches to work (i.e press on them as hard as you can), OR as long as you don't overtighten the screws :)

does anyone know how to take the climate control module out of a 1995 mark VIII and can I change the bulbs in the selection buttons in the module?

Someone should help you in the Mark VIII forum soon!

I think I saw one of those yesterday in another 94 during my junkyard trip. The buttons looked slightly bigger and the fan wheel had dot knurls not the lines.
Alas did not have the time to pull the panel
I had heard that a 95-97 panel would work on the 93-94 models anyone can confirm this??

This is a real replacement part, updated F5 part# made in 1999 Buttons look different vs my OEM 94 one. Took about 20 screws to get that dash face off YUCK.
