New to this Forum ok 1995 model the tack when you step on the throttle the tack runs backwards. Could this possibly be a ground problem.

also I don't have this problem yet. But on me 88 TC I replaced the heater core. On a MarkVIII do yo have to remove the dash to replace it also. Thank Danny

I have no idea about the tach but I'm about 99% certain the dash has to come down to get to the heater core. Every Ford I have ever had experience with has been like that.

Was a heck of a job in that 88 TC this looks 100 times worse

Tack works backwards??? Does that mean that instead of going into your tire and deflating it it comes out of your tire and the tire seals up?? :)
Hey, did you get an owners manual with yours?? If so, can you tell me how to reset my clock??:)

My 1994 does the same thing. The needle climbs to about 2000rpm then as engine speed increases the tach needle drops to a pointing straight down position. I've taken out the cluster and checked the usual suspects 1) guage face slides down (nope) 2) Tach needle touching clear plastic (nope).

Looks like I'll have to try a new cluster/tach unit or install an after market tach and adapter if I really want a tach. For now I just hold it to the floor till the rpm's stop climbing and then shift somewhere around 7000. 4.6's can handle it. ;<)

Suggestions welcome. (before I fry my engine)
Thanks!!

that's 132 watts...lol. Yes it rocks solid even after all these years of sound "improvements."

That is so weird about the tach. But nothing in the cluster has a mechanical link, it's electronic/analog hybrid.

I hear ya. I had an old(72, and NO, it wasn't tubes) Benz and it had a "Becker Mexico" in it, with factory amp also. Admittedly it had lots of problems, but I'd stack up it's midrange performance up against anything I've heard short of a cd player. Seems a lot of people pay more attention to hype than performance. I get all kinds of kids tellin me their 1000w whatever is better than mine. I doubt it, but mine's damn sure good enough for me.

that's bizarre-it goes up to 2000 rpm's and then goes down??? Into 'negative' territory??? Has it always done that?
Not like it'd help, but have you disconnected the battery and let it sit, I know it makes no sense, but these things get electrical gremlins like nobodies business and I have cured mad IAC's like that.
That is really strange, and especially since others have the same problem-:confused::confused:
