finally was able to get underneath and check her out..

i jacked up the front tires under the control arms.. and checked for play in the ball joints... nothing i could tell.

the upper control arm bushings are shot... (both sets) both upper ball joint have their boots torn, but are "wet" inside.

the steering box seal is leaking... dripping off the pitman arm

i could not tell any front bearing wear by trying to move the tire around either... and the tie rod ends seemed solid.

both rear bearings are shot.. lots of play on the drivers side (i can lift the tire and move it up and down a bit) and there is some play on the pass. side...

the pass side rear brakes... the inside pad is almost gone.. the outside one is ok.. gonna have to rebuild those calipers.

i'm gonna start looking into another tc... and get some repair bearings on the rear so i can take it on trips without fear.. but i don't know how much i want to put into this.

is there anything i missed when checking these things out? everything else looks "solid"

Sorry to hear that. Check for rust on the brakelines, oil pan and frame too.

That doesn't sound all that bad or expensive, at your mileage those are maintainence items. Fix it! Stop whining!:D

Yeah, at 217K, that is of no suprise. I would fix all the issues there, because it is still cheaper than a monthly car payment, and you will be set for another 100K at least. (with proper lubrication) Get the MOOG suspension parts if you are going to have it replaced. I have never had anything bad to say about MOOG, because I have never had a bad experience with them. Also, the grease zerks are really helpful. I hate the OEM sealed units :)

if the body was perfect, i would put the work into it... but it would need some body work AND a new paint job...

it's just beat up and old... time for a new one.

who's the guy in miami that finds tc's for people down there?

i'm looking for a dark green with white inside... moonroof.. 91 - 94 (NO carriage tops)

not much to choose from up here in ohia.

That'd probably be megaforcer out of Boca Raton, Silver Cross Cars (http://www.silvercrosscars.com/), his cars are premium condition, but for such impeccable quality, so it seems, some prices I see are a bit high. But, if you want a very seriously nice TC, he can find it I'm sure.

thanks! i posted because i don't feel that confident in checking suspension and steering components. wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything.

i'd have to put almost $2k into mine to get it where i want it... figure put that towards a nice new one.

that 2k and a year of fake car payments to myself... and i'll have my new hotness. (unless my current tc gives up the ghost before next spring)

i'm gonna patch her up so she'll last at least another year...

No problem, I'm sure he can find you a nice one.

Make her last and go for it! Save your coin, and go for it.

I highly doubt that al (megaforcer) will find you a 91 - 94. I talked to him a while back for the same year town car and he said "no Fu**ing way".

Al's a great guy. I'm glad to be able to consider him a friend. The deal is, he only deals with the cream of the crop as far as Lincolns go. That's why his prices are as they are. He isn't selling your run of the mill used Lincolns so he isn't selling them at rock bottom prices. Look at his site and the locations some of his cars went. When you have the quality of cars he does, people will come from all over to get "The" Lincoln they want. I think the problem has become a lot of people contacting him to find them a great deal on a used Lincoln and basically wanting the quality of the ones he puts up on his site with a $500 price tag. He has worked hard to get his reputation to the point it is with the cars he sells. I wouldn't want to sell a POS to someone and have them start talking my place up because it appears that all I sell is worn out pieces of crap instead of the fine automobiles he deals in.

I am also proud to call Al my friend. His cars are the best and well worth it. He got me interested in the Cypress which is out of this world. I was lucky to find one in Florida and Al has pix of it on his website.

He had a beautiful blue 93 that he sold recently for $3500, it was literally mint, so he does have them once in a while, but I guess it's rare, here it is btw...

I had his link in my post too, and I bet if someone were to approach him seriously about an older TC he'd try and find one.
