Hi,
I know that this thread should be in Continental forum but In this forum are most of the members, I think.
So I need some help. Could someone, who wisitīs in junkyard, find find me a set of keyīs an lock sylinder to my 77 Lincoln Continental. I need cylinderīs to driverīs door and ingnition cylinder. There must me keys to them allso. Sorry to say but I canīt find them in here, Finland or any part stores. Reason why I need them is that my (mostly) loving wife LOST THE ONLY KEY`S !!!!

If someone of member could help Iīm more than happy to pay costīs of trouble and shipping to Finland.

Replacement lock cylinders are $10 or less at most parts stores in the states, you can probably ship international through RockAuto or another website like that.

Get the replacement and then get some vintage Lincoln key blanks from eBay. Nobody will know the difference.

Would the locks/ignition from a '74 Mark IV work? My uncle is in the process of pulling the rear end/junking one.

Hi,
I think, they fit. At least itīs worth of trying if they are not expencive. Could you check out of shipping to Finland by Fedex or UPS. Postnumber is 17200 Finland.

According to the UPS site it would cost about $100 to ship it, unless I'm doing something wrong (??) Their site is kind of confusing... I can get the parts for nothing, I'll call him later today when he gets home and make sure the car is still there.

If you want to try to generate a quote, I'd be shipping from 03801, Portsmouth NH

Hi,
Letīs get back to issue when you have answer from your uncle.
The UPS price soundīs quite high as compared that I just ordered a new radiator to my conti and the shipping was 98,50 USD.

There are three late 70's LTD's at a junkyard about 35 minutes from my house. If they will work, when I go again, I will gladly get them for you. (Don't know when I will go again though) :(

Thankīs for you both. So I must just wait. I think that Us paracel post is the best way to send the cylinderīs when one of you can get them. They will come in small box and it should not weight more than a half of kiloīs. This is the only way I think. I tryed from rockauto but they only have ignition cylinderīs. What I need is ig.cylinder and at least one door cylinder ( rather two ) working with same key.

Hi Jyrki. I'm a nut on ebay and there are both an ignition cylinder w/keys and a pair of door locks w/keys listed as "buy it now" items. The ignition is $20 and the door locks are $45, both with postage to the US. Yes they would be 2 different keys but I've gotten used to using 2 with our 78 Mercury Marquis. Both are new items rather than salvage stuff so if you'd be interested I'd gladly send the listings to you to look over. If you're not an "ebayer" I can get them for you & send them together to save postage. I'm Scandinavian myself so I thought I should at least try to help out :) Actually I'm Norwegian & Swedish ( and we don't lose our keys... ) but I have sympathy for any man with a wife :D

Folks, whoever ends up shipping the parts to our friend overseas, you may wanna use the EMS service by USPS - I've shipped some pretty big things like that on several occasions, never had to pay more than $45, and they arrived safe and sound within 5 business days - I'd imagine for something as light as the locks and keys the shipping rate will be fairly low, and insurance up to $100 is automatically applied and don't cost extra. A small customs form will need to be filled out too, but the post office has that and it's real easy to do too.

We have a section up there (small though <74 cars) that is just "Classic cars" - Anything older than 1980, that is actually collectable to some degree.
1978 Bronco, nah.
1978 Mark V, count on it :)

On ford Vehicles you can get one key to work in two different locks. My ford mechanic does this all the time. They cut one key pattern on one side and the other key pattern on the other side. Each lock only needs the key cut pattern on one edge of the key.
