What is the best polish/wax combo for our cars? I mean what product can deliver the wettest look/shine, and provide the best/long lasting protection, please all experiences and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You're asking a question about personal opinion. One person will tell you use wax A, the next will say use wax B, the next will say use wax C. General rule is use something name brand. I use carnauba paste wax. Take a look in the Appearance section. There was just a discussion about this about a day ago.

I prefer mequiars products but I may be a little bias because Mr. Meguiar lives about 20 minutes from me. There is the store/comsumer quality which is what you can get at Walmart which is good or there is the professional product which is a bit harder to find. I have found some them at an RV shop and O'reilly's. Obviously the professional products are better and the price really isn't any higher but there are a lot of steps involved. The consumer quality I use is 4 steps. A clay bar and 3 step system of cleaner, polish, and wax. The professional can be 4 steps or more.:eek:Just depends on how much time you plan to spend. I use the clay bar, the fine cut cleaner, then a polish, and a liquid wax but I think I'm going to start using paste wax soon.

Hi 93 Cartiertc
I am quite partial to a Brazillian wax (http://www.holidayinbrazil.com/images/Image_Library/Brazilian_Food/Fruits.JPG) myself :D

Edit: Uh oh I have had my collar felt by the humour police who didn't appreciate my humour or the beauty of the female form so now all all you see is a nice selection of fruit.

Thanks guys! I have used quite a few brands and types over the years. Meguiars make a good caranuba #11. Black magic makes a good synthetic foam wax, that can be used even on a wet car. I just brought some dura-gloss from Napa Auto Parts, and talk about a shine!!!

Hi 93 Cartiertc
Bilt-Hamber Autobalm (http://www.bilthamber.com/autobalm.html) would take that Napa Duragloss shine, chew it up, spit it out and make it look like the finish on the south end of a north facing warthog, only Bilt-Hamber Autobalm can put a shine on a turd. (http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/showthread.php?t=570108)
There is such a shine on my car it killed the CCD in my camera!

To Dereck, thanks for the pics of the street and house. Wish the US would follow suit and keep the trash in the containers. Spent four years in Hanau FRG and miss the homes and streets. Thanks Again.

Here is a suggestion from a long time sailor in Florida.
For our boats, which are always in the sun and in sea water which reflects the sun back on the hull, and those harsh chemicals like fuel, oils and who knows what, as well as abrasion from lines and fenders ( bumpers to you ), we use .....boat wax.
I wax the hull (sides) with 2 coats of this carnauba wax that is easy to apply, (even in the sun, one large section at the time), onto the washed and scrubbed fiberglass gelcoat or painted surfaces, apply white rubbing compound where required, and the wax polishes out to a shine real easy, by hand.
Lasts 2 years in the sun!!! Costs about the same as car wax.
Name is " TREWAX " by 'Four Seasons' Sold at marine stores like West Marine and Boat US. in 12 oz. cans. Says it's Distributed by 'Marikate Ship Shape, inc.' 1-800-227-8307.
May not be the most shiny, (It will compare with any other out there ) but it surely lasts. Cannot put the can or anything on the hood after waxing because it will slide right off.... for months!!

Well....... since it's the middle of October 2009, I thought I would bring up this discussion again.
What is everyone using on their Town Cars for wax?
Since I've owned my Town Car since 30 June, 2005, I have been using Meguiar's products. I started out using the cleaner paste wax which I thought did a good job. It was in a plastic container. When I went to wax my Town Car the second time and I opened the container, the fumes that came out of that container could burn your nose hairs right out. I called Meguiar's and they told me they had a problem with the wax being in the plastic container. They sent me out a replacement of the cleaner wax, a can of their Gold Class and a can of their Hi-Tech Yellow Wax. When I tried the Gold Class, I never used the cleaner wax again. I think there is that big of a difference in the shine. Now that I am done with the Gold Class can I am going to put on the Hi-Tech Yellow Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
I think the Gold Class is a fine product and makes a silver frost Lincoln Town Car look very good. Has anyone used the Hi-Tech Yellow wax on their Town Car?
I also use their leather cleaner and conditioner and tire shine products. I am very happy with them all!
I use the Zymol car wash for washing.

I've switched to Meguiars NXT 2.0 Paste wax. Best wax I've ever had on it. Looks better than Derecks when shined up :)
I usually just wax every month or two, but once a year I clay bar it, then wash, hand dry, polish, buff, wax, buff, then go back over with a new microfiber towel and buff a little more.
Here is my old truck, today. I waxed it around 2 weeks ago, and it needs a wash, but here is what it is:
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk282/1994LTCSS/10-15-09003.jpg
Up until 2007, it had never been waxed. Never. It had always been under the sun, had chemicals spilled on it, etc. It's always been a farm truck. The paint was a dull, flat, red. After some rubbing compound over the entire finish, followed by a wash and 4 coats of Liquid Glass, followed by a wax, it remains this way.
Can you believe it's about to hit 255,000 miles? :)
