OK, after going over my new purchase, the ONLY thing I can find wrong with it is that one of the ashtray doors, the passenger side rear one is broken/loose/or something. It kind of slides down as if it is off it's hinge.
Any advice on a fix?

Check out the Tech section. There is an article on how to fix them. I did this on my own a few months ago and they are still holding today. Good luck!

Whoops, I missed it last time I looked in the tech section.
Yet again another incredible writeup - - this site is so awesome.

Yeah, If this is your first TC, you'll definately want to spend several hours going all thru this place. Most of us here are so obsessed with our Townies, that if we find even the slightest thing on our cars that vary's from the day it rolled out of the showroom, we post it !
And then we have a fix for it !! LOL
You'll find things here, that even the best of mechanics don't know.

Hi guys, I read the tech article and it specifically addresses the 95-97 TC. I hope the same procedure will apply to my '92. I have a similar problem with my left rear door.

Don't know if it will work or not. Both of my rear doors are like that, and I went over the tech article, but, when I went ot apply it, I hit a roadblock and was unable to do it. I think it was because of the way mine broke. Instead of breakign out of the old hole, the plastic pieces that the hole was drilled into, had broken in half, and I didn't have enough excess plastic to drill a hole. :(

My plastic arms were broke way up by the body too. You can get pretty close though if you use a REAL small drill bit. I was able to use a drill bit from work, looked like a sewing needle LOL.
I was fortunate to find BOTH springs inside each door cavity too. I had to stretch them a bit because with that original arm gone, you need a spring thats about 1/2 longer. Just takes patience and imagination.

Oh yeah, I agree. My smallest bit is around 1/16, or 1 /32.
I might give it another go come monday :)

Don't forget that in this repair, JB Weld is your friend. If the plastic is broken in such a way you can't drill it, JB Weld the area, let it set for 4 minutes (if you use the quick curing kind) and then drill it. I had to do this on mine.
