Hi,

Working on a 96 T/C and I'm trying to find a key on switched 12v wire that also stays on when you turn everything off (radio and accessories still powered until you open the door) in the front passenger kickpanel area that I can tap into for my blue amp wire.

I'm also trying to find a wire at the factory amp in the trunk that I can tap that does the same thing as above. The speakers I bought for this car have little blue LED's and I need some way to power them.

Thanks!

Still looking for some answers here if anyone has any suggestions? I went and probed the wires on the factory amp with a test light. All I could find was hot all the time wires :(

Jet set, In the trunk area,When I hooked up my Sirius to my RCU I used Pin 8 on C416 it is LG/BK and the signal is called "ASY on". This wire is on the corner of the connector, below a pink wire and next to a LG/R wire. In the front area, same signal "asy on" is C202 Left cowl on bracket LG/BK wire also on C329 which is located below right hand side of IP. According to my 1995 EVTM this C329 looks like it is right around the glove box and the cabling from it runs along the passenger kick panel. This is all for my 1995, but, would think it is similar for you. BTW this "asy on" signal is only strong enough to power a sense type input. If you hook it up and it is loaded down by the amp, you will have to add a relay as I did when installing some auto switching circuitry.

Newave,

THANK YOU! :hyper:

That was the push I needed in the right direction! My wiring was slightly different and I was probably looking at a different wiring diagram from what you had. I couldn't locate the numbers of the connectors (I have 3 on my RCU) but did find the wire colors you pointed out.

I used/tapped the LG/BK "ASY on" at the RCU (12v powers on with key and has battery saver function) to power the LED lights on the speakers.

I found this same LG/BK wire in the harness on a connector right under the RT front (passenger) kick panel. Strange thing though. I measured the voltage there and that wire was only giving me 6.44v. Well, it was only going to be used for the blue wire amp turn on. I decided to give that a shot. It worked perfectly so I'm leaving that alone for now. I'm running my subwoofer's amp power straight from the battery.

For the small amount of money I spent enhancing the stock system, it sounds grrrrrreat!

What auto switching circuitry did you add to yours?

Thanks again, a couple pics so you can see what I was working on...

That 6.44 volt thing may wind up giving you problems. That "assy on" line does not have power for lights and stuff. That is why it loaded down to 6.44V. The auto switcher I installed is an automatic line level switcher to automatically switch from tape to Sirius when I turn on the Sirius. The FM mod on the Sirius was not coming through the radio very well (distorted highs). I wound up putting a transistor and an automotive relay on the "assy on" line to get enough power to run the LL-one switcher. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/50-8385
