View Full Version : 1977-1979 Mark V- Dual Exhaust?

Was dual exhaust an option on the 77-79 Mark V? My 78 doesn't have it but it does have the 460 engine. I've seen some other Marks that do have duals though.

Thanks,
Steve

Dual exhaust was common, I thought all 460s had it. It won't take much to covert it over, so do the right thing. :)

I thought they all had it too!

Don't worry, you're talking to a guy that takes brand new vehicles directly to the exhaust shop to have duals installed if they didn't come that way. ;)

My Trailblazer had less than 100 miles on it when I had the shop fab up duals for it. I've lost count of how many vehicles I've put duals on. I love duals!!

I'm thinking (at some point) the Shark needs headers with a cat-less x-pipe true dual system!

Hi FormerLSCowner

I know in 79 only a single exhaust was available from Ford, I believe in 77 and 78 dual exhaust was an option.

Thanks for the info Dereck!

I like your sig picture. I need to clean up my turbines and either repaint or polish them.

Cats are a big restriction on these cars, they are tiny.

No headers available...if you get something to work (I tried) give us the knowledge. :)

Damn! Would 460 truck headers be too big?

What about an H or X pipe, does anyone make them for the Mark V?

I guess if nothing else, just a 2.5 or 3" true dual system from manifolds back.

You can put whatever you want after the manifolds, there's plenty of space.

Headers don't work because of the steering box's screwy location on the crossmember. Bummer.

EDIT: the stock system has an H-pipe, if I remember correctly. Just put whatever you want in that location on the car and you're done.

Nice! Mine are all cruddy. At some point I might strip them and paint the middle area black or silver and polish the face.
