I'm trying to find out actual details. Right now, all they have is a claim that they have a Mark VII GTC Stage II with a 5.8L and images from my archive and specs gleamed from various web pages. They haven't mentioned a thing about the actual car.

OK I'll spill the beans,
I bought it.:D
I've been looking for a mark VII for awhile now (as a few of you may know).
Took a big chance on this one -- I had to do it for a potential 'GTC'.
had the dealer send alot of pics/videos, and was convinced that it was at least a stage 1.

It just arrived today.
very happy with it.
needs alot of TLC but I think I'm up to the challenge.

I need to do more research on the 'stage 2' mod for 1986 to be completely convinced that it is a '2' but I'm starting to think it might be.
for those of you that are boned up on the GTC's
this is what my car has (beside the ground effects&logos):
351w (positively), with jack roush logo on fan shroud.
stage 2 correct front sway bar (1.3").
stage 2 correct front air suspension.
5/8" rear sway bar
oil gauge (vdo) in glovebox.
left foot rest.
"stage II" logo on right side of trunk lid.

This is what my car doesn't have:
correct rims
5-speed manual tranny (this car is an automatic)
no pan hard bar
.... and that's why I'm questioning the stage II claim.
For now I'm calling it the 1 1/2.

And this is what it needs:
new paint
correct rims
new cup holder "hoops"
engine needs a bath , (greeeeaaasy) and some sea foam.
sunroof has been 'welded' shut with silicone which is weird because there is no sunroof switch , but it has all the guts(motor and sliders .
new tires in a few days, :o that thing is a tire roasting machine.
stereo.
I knew it was gonna be a project car from the start , so all in all - I'm happy with it so far.

more info and pics to come
CHEERS! Brad

Here's a few pics I took of the front suspension yesterday,
On the ground, but I'll get it up on the jack stands this weekend for some better pics.
the bags are in there somewhere among the grease and road grime.
I didn't bother taking any of the rear - All stock stuff- I'll get some this weekend though.

threw in a few more pics of the "GTC stuff".

What kind of wheels doe's it need. Also i what color seat and what shape are they in.

It needs the 'bbs' style wheels 16"x8" with BLACK centers (not dark titainium) ,but would settle for a set of the dark titainiums (16"x7" I think) that aren't curb checked.
At some point someone blacked out the centers of a towncar set of rims (15") with a rattle can and slapped them on....looks great:rolleyes:
...already talked to a guy at BBS and all he said (basically) was "good luck".

The interior is black, seats are leather w/perferrated leather centers .... salvageable condition,no tears or splits...
overall I'd say condition of leather is about 5 or 6/10.
Back seat is 9/10 (faded slightly).

There are many little items the interior could use.
I'm still "writing" the list of things the car needs, but off the top of my head I could use:
Nice door panel trim rings (the one that circles the lock/seat switches-- both sides (black)
A center counsole top panel free of scratches and dings.

Just so you know, the wheels that came on the GTCs weren't the run of the mill LSC/BB mesh wheels. They were actual 16x8 BBS wheels made by BBS. They were on my 87 when I bought it then I put them on my 92 that I sold to cupcakelsc. I can post a few pictures when I get home from work tonight of what they look like so you get the correct ones......if you can find them of course.

I know the ones I need....and that's the problem, They are nowhere to be found. The guy at BBS said they fazed out the 'RA' wheels in the early 90's.
He also gave me a little history on the BBS/ford relationship--
Supposedly BBS designed the wheel for ford and was suppose to supply them also, but ford kinda "took the design and ran".
So, even though they have 'BBS' centercaps , the wheel itself has a ford part # stamped on it.-- this is what Mr. Cox @ BBS told me anyway.
pics would be cool:)

Ford did use BBS wheels with a cast BBS logo for a short while in 1990 before they went to another supplier, which I believe was Speedline.

Looking at the anti-roll bar bushings and mileage, I'd say you're in for new bushings. Remember though that the rubber bushings were harder. My research points to a hardness around Energy Suspension bushings in front and Ford's stiffer replacement, rubber bushings in back.

The Koni struts will have a tab you can rotate at the top. If you're missing the shocks and struts, fear not. You still have the alternative of Mustang SVO struts with caster/camber plates and custom Koni shocks. See my sticky. They're pricey, but they're better than what Koni originally offered.

I'm not so sure on that yet,
This car was driven (and neglected) by someone that had no idea what they had,(guessing a teenager by the high grade power cables left behind from a sub box in the trunk) it just seems improbable that it made it to 2008 being driven as a daily driver ,and no one catching it before this point. It would be cool if it was a 1of1 , but who's counting.
I wouldn't be suprised if the previous owner(s) never popped the hood open.
The plus side to it all is that as far as I can tell, nothing has ever been cobbled together (i.e.-bolts in vaccum lines, duct tape around hoses--that kind of stuff), it was just never under any preventive maintainance schedule, or cleaning regiment for that matter.
The wheels are a complete mystery to me though,
why someone would take them off and put these on (unless they were stolen) is "mind bottling" (haha).

NYC LS8,
Thanks for the pics and link,
cupcakelsc should donate those wheels to the cause. after all it's for the greater good....right?:D

BTW, thanks everyone for the compliments on the car
DISCLAIMER: it does look alot nicer in pictures....for now

Well I am glad it is an honest to Roush GTC. I was trying to confirm it's authenticity when it "disappeared". Although I am not particularly GTC crazy, I would have picked it up at that price. At last some of the original GTC parts can be confirmed. I'm glad a Mark VII enthusiast got it and I am with Armond and the Lincoln Mafia in looking forward to seeing it on the HRPT, hopefully 2009.

well this is where this thread dies, and this idea moves no longer. for those who dont know we've been thru this two times already. someone grabs a gtc and has a chance to help out the whole mark vii community. on both times we needed bags to have repro's made. already been down the road of getting measurements and whatnot and sending that info in. and to no avail the bags were needed. so unless there's a bagmasters, goodyear, or whoever near 95pres this is where it dies. 95pres if you can find it to let these bags be shipped or hand delivered to one of these companies then we make progress. but if not, we are at the same brickwall as before. anyhow good find and purchase. hope all goes really well with it.

Well,
I really don't understand why they would need the bag on hand...
Any air bag designer worth a sh%* should be wise enough to design a 'REPRO' from pics and measurments.
Our home is always open to anyone wanting to stay a night,
If they need to see them first hand.

I'm really not trying to be difficult with the bags,
just trying salvage what little integrady the car has left.

Minneapolis/St.Paul is only an hour away from me, surely someone up there is capeable of documenting the bags for bagmasters,

I totally understand the want for these in the "Mark VII community"
But I ask you to understand also- If I lost these bags for the car, I'm f***ed.
This board is full of a bunch of great people(and I mean TRULY GREAT),
But honestly, If my bag came back wrecked or disected,
All I would get is -"We're truely sorry for your loss" followed by "good luck", -and that just wouldn't cut it with me, because there aren't any replacement bags.
I know you all want repro's,and I'm sure that eventually, I (and other GTC owners) will NEED them also,
But I'm already starting to wonder the actual commitment of these bag companies, if you've been down this road twice before with no success....I mean, not even a "prototype"?! ...come on.

Long story short (too late), the bags are RIGHT HERE,...come look. :)

I'll be contacting them on tuesday ,
I really don't know what an ammo shop can do for you guys, but it's a start at least.

Finding another GTC is exciting. Especially one that is not in pieces.
It is fortunate that it is now in the hands of someone that "gets it", and is -even better- part of our community.

Nice car! Just to clarify though, that statement is not necessarily true at all. As a man of the buisiness, guys in the 18-35 range bought car audio of this sort. Only a small percent of this were teens, on the basis the equipment is too pricey for most kids, and parents don't buy this type of stuff for them nearly as much as people think due to thinking it is not worth the cost or a theft risk, or unsafe.

Any idea how the non-OEM sunroofs handled the drainage? Were the OEM drains in place on all the cars out of the factory or did they have to be "handled" with installation? The rear drains of the factory are the major problem with clogging because they are difficult to access, I am wondering how the non OEM's worked. BTW, there is a tech procedure written up somewhere on one man's (?Art Bailey?) imaginative handling of the "clearing of clogs" in those drains.

...BTW - thanks for getting a DOORS tune stuck in my head all day

People are strange
when you're a stranger
....:p

Sorry about that, I really came off as a dick and I didn't mean it that way. Here's to the bag rebuilders not jerking you around and making everyone happy in the process. :)

My bad,
Didn't mean to stereotype anyone.

I was just saying as for speculations purposes of previous ownership, I am in no way offended. I became the car audio nutcase I am due to my interest in the hobby since I was 12.

And once again, what an awesome car to find!

My 90 Thunderbird Super coupe has the 'factory' sunroof, yet still has a C&C sunroof installation sticker on the door jamb. I have the original window sticker and it shows the option.

Any clues why? I could never quite figure that out.

C&C was a division of American Sunroof Corporation, ASC, if I remember right. ASC was and is a large OEM for sunroof and moonroofs. They handle roof systems such as entire convertible and folding hardtops as well.

That is not correct.

Well as a late-comer to this thread let me extend my cudos on such a great find. I should come around more.

Regarding the bags, I lucked into a new set of LSC bags. They have a less conical shape vs. the GTC design. I replaced my aftermarket which were made to fit all Marks and continentals. They were a near reverse cone top hat shape, a poor catch all design that allows the bag to contact the control arm and while control was ok the ride was terrible. I say the conical shape of the LSC, and GTC bases give the bag a progressive rate that gives a softer ride for the road cracks.

So when the day comes to pull a bag off for cleaning get all measurements and dimensional changes of the base and of the bag length. Pics with rulers etc will no doubt get the attention that any GTC thread gets.

Good Cleaning

OK, then I think it was ASC who eventually bought out C&C post GTC era. It's covered in the official 5.0 Mustang book.

... So, even though they have 'BBS' centercaps , the wheel itself has a ford part # stamped on it.-- this is what Mr. Cox @ BBS told me anyway.
pics would be cool:)
Word.
Ford wheels don't say BBS.

I ~do~ know that they did the OEM installs. This is on my 1986.

Believe it or not, someone has compiled a history of sunroof companies. Anyway, he's saying C&C was bought by Skylite Inalfa?

Any idea how the non-OEM sunroofs handled the drainage? Were the OEM drains in place on all the cars out of the factory or did they have to be "handled" with installation? The rear drains of the factory are the major problem with clogging because they are difficult to access, I am wondering how the non OEM's worked. BTW, there is a tech procedure written up somewhere on one man's (?Art Bailey?) imaginative handling of the "clearing of clogs" in those drains.

According to a label on the door, the one in my car if from "Farmont Skylite". Two drains behind the rear wheels and no drains in front.

Already been to that site,
Very informative.
Still trying to find the right parts for mine,
also,
I have completely removed the C&C (a.k.a.-Rockwell) sunroof from mine and it has 4- 1/2"drains (1 per corner).
rebuilding/repairing a sunroof is a personal first for me-- really cool how these things are designed.
....cheap but cool

I believe they were bought by MASCO. Maybe MASCO sold them off, I don't know.
