hey guys i really have 2 questions
its a 1995 lincoln mark 8
first .... i have a fuse blowing that i cant track down . every time i change it it blows seconds after i change it even with out starting the car i really need to know the fuse digram...... when it blows i have no brake lights and it will not allow me to shift from park.
Second..... since this happened now the brakes dont seem to work i press the pedal and it goes all the way to the floor there is no pressure.... there is brake fluid and its not leaking i have even bled the brakes to check for air . i feel these problems are related also the head lights are almost nonworking now ... before they were always dim but now there is no light at all it seams.
thanx guys for all the help i hope to receive.

Wow, that's alot to contemplate-first, if the fuse that's blowing has a number/location, that would help-this came out of nowhere? Is the battery fully charged, connections clean? Does the car run? The fuse blowing is some short on that circuit and since you mention brakes, the first thought I had was the recall-was that done?
these things can be electrical nightmares, but can be traced to subsystems-you need to be logical and get basic, you're throwing a lot of things at once. I think the fuse blowing problem needs to be addressed first, so you have to find out what circuit that is-do you have an owner's manual? That would tell us what circuit it is and may give more concise clues.

Let us know which one is the one that keeps blowing and we'll go from there. I can grab the Book and walk you through the step by step troubleshooting, but be warned it may be a very labor intensive process.
EDIT: Do you not have an owner's manual? Ebay or helminc.com can help with that. Additionally, it would appear that it is the fuse inside the car in slot number 10 or 11 is the one that is blowing?

hey thanx
first yes the car was running but then fuse 11 started to blow now so it is un drivable. the multi function switch. and also 9 has went with it a couple times.
all the terminals are clean and the battery is charged . i had the brake switch changed thinking that was the problem since i could not shift but i guess not.
no what i dont know any thin about a recall.... what is wrong ???
thanx again for the help guys

check the harness that runs up the trunk hinge for chafing or breaks in the circuit. That went bad on my 98 and it blew the fuse that controlled marker lights as well as the brake switch and trans interlock.
It sounds like you've got more going on than that, but in an emergency you can drive the car with an inoperative brake/shift interlock. You must start the car in neutral, then put it in gear (if you put it in park, you'll have to repeat the process.) Keep in mind, you have NO brake lights in this scenario, so you'll be using hand signals.

Hey Tommy..
Welcome to Lincolns Online!!
You can get a free copy of your 1995 FSM here (http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/linc.htm); It's an ISO of my original CD.

Head on over to the wiring diagrams and see what circuits both fuses 9 and 11 have in common. Then you have pinpointed the problem circuit, and the pinpoint tests (with a multimeter and some patience) will have you at the problem in no time.

Have you had your car in for the brake pressure switch recall?
It sounds like it might be the culprit to me, or if it's been done, maybe they didn't install it right and it's leaking...
Get it checked out asap as this recall can burn your car up even if it's just sitting...
