'65 temp sender location

Hey guys, I just got my '65 conti finally and have a question. My temp gauge isn't working even after replacing the sensor on the intake manifold. I bought a gauge from autozone just to hold me over for the time being but the sensor is too big for the stock location. Is there anywhere else to plug this sucker in?

You could drill/tap another hole in the intake manifold and put the other sensor in. Not worth it, though.

If you bought a WELLS sensor from Autozone, return it and buy another brand from another store. Its either the sensor, the gauge (needs rebuilding) or something happened to the wiring. All of which can be tested with a voltmeter.

is there a pipe plug in the side of one of the heads? many older engines had plugs in the heads for temp guages.
