Its the Lincoln of minivans. Where's my barf bag?

Seriously, who cares about a Lincoln that appeals to Navigator owners looking for better fuel economy? That's all this tank has going for it!

I dunno. I kinda dig it, especially compared to the offerings from GM these days. Something like that may be a replacement for our Tahoe next year.

You're a true "lincoln guy" so I respect your opinion - but I respectively (and strongly) disagree. The Crossover SUV segment is going to become a VERY important place to be in the coming years. In fact, it already IS an important segment. These Crossovers are the new "full-size" car for people who like vehicles like the Town Car and Cadillac Fleetwood. Gone are the days of big cars you can really stretch out in.

Actually, they're not GONE - but in America they are. I'll always have the option to buy a Lexus LS460L, a BMW 750Li or Audi A8L - but what if I want to buy domestic? There's nothing left! And that's where the Lincoln MKT (http://www.lincolnmkt.com) comes in.

This is going to be the next full-size luxury vehicle for those of us who don't want an Escalade or Navigator. Don't get me wrong, I love full-size SUVs - but they're too sloppy on the road compared to cars. Crossovers, on the other hand, are not such a far stretch away. They're not too big and heavy - they can be fast (see the Infiniti FX50), they can be extremely comfortable and can actually handle better than some cars did not long ago...

The only reason CUVs are supposedly gonna be a big part of the market is because that's what Detroit invested so much of their capital in. But Detroit only has 40% of the market these days.

You will never, ever see a CUV out sell the Camry, Accord, Fusion or any number of sedans. Hell, look at the monthly sales of the Ford Flex (future) vs. the fleet-only Crown Vic (past)! They are disturbingly close.

And premium CUVs are feeling the pinch, especially the Ford Flex. Ford originally wanted to sell over 100K of them annually, and last time I checked they are tracking to be at 30K annually. Same is true for the GM lambda CUVs, the vehicles that were supposed to be HUGE part of GM's path to success.

GM's only successes? The Malibu and CTS: both sedans.

As the market contracts you can expect more people to want to spend $35,000+ for a luxury car, not a CUV. Just a guess, those who bought premium CUVs are more concerned with saving money for their family, not maxing out their credit and monthly payments.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8. That's the only SUV i would buy. Soccer moms could get there kids to soccer practice so quick, they wouldn't even have time to say "are we there yet". :p

Nah, I want something that doesn't have an interior that feels like recycled milk jugs. At least the MKT will be no slouch with the turbo V6 and 6-speed.

it reminds me to much of the ford freestyle..... the interior looks good, but i'm not impressed at all by the exterior.... not sleek at all.
to me it looks like it was slapped together without regard of looks.

the gas fill is kinda neat though i must say its an inovative concept.

I didn't think that, but since they are on the same platform that makes sense.

It's good to hear you stiring the pot still. I like it. It would be nicer if it had the original MKX/Avaitor concept tail end.

Does anyone have an inside idea of the price?

This is the vehicle that should have been the MKX. I'm glad they are dumping the early 60's grill. The waterfall is a great improvement. I didn't think the early 60's would resonate with younger drivers.

Welcome back! How's the Zephyr? Is it as reliable as Ford says?

The Ford Flex maxes out at well over 40K, so the MKT should start around $45k. Just a guess.

EDIT: My guess was better than I thought... http://www.leftlanenews.com/lincoln-mkt.html

it's fugly thats my opinion.

i wonder why ford did not spend there money (i mean my money since i own ford stock) on producing a production model of the continental concept and call lets a continental.

also do you think its about time that lincoln stops giving its cars letter for name instead of a proper name. lincoln needs to compete against lincoln, not benz, bmw and alike.

enough said.

On a serious note, "M" stands for manual.

The MKT has the 3 driving modes just like the MKS and the new Mkz (or any other F/L/M equipped with the manu-matic)

Regular, Sport and Manual-when u "throw" the shifter over to the right (towards the m) you are in sport mode.

The Zeph is awesome!!!!! I still get 30+ on the highway. The thing has been totally reliable. I still smile when I walk up to it in the parking lot. It looks that good, and not like every cookie cutter sedan out there. I'd put it up against my brother's Lexus anyday, but I would like a ride in the MKT..... It just looks more versatile...

I obviouslly havent ridden in an MKT, but I did get a chance to sit in it/play with it when i worked the AutoShow here a while ago. materials feel as close to 1st class as lincoln will ever get and the "cockpit" is laid out really nice;designed in the same fashion as the 2010 MkZ. We have a lot of buzz at my dealership and have taken 5 preorders already. most people that see it either love it or hate it..........most of the responses surround the rear end.
