1999 Lincoln Continental - replace tranny - check transmission light

I had a used transmission put into my 99 Continental (the old was had been slipping for 2 years and was starting to shudder). I rolled the dice and bought a used transmission for $500 with 77k miles on it, and had it installed for $300. Drove it 15 miles and the check transmission light came on. It also seems to slip/shudder very gently when I take off. Have only driven it 10 miles since. I checked the fluid and it looks ok................Any ideas?

You'll need to find out what code is generated by the transmission light. I reckon the tranny you got was a dud...do you trust the guy who sold it?
