Hi Guys

I posted up this one stuck in the mud a few days ago and thought the removal deserved it's own thread.

http://www.burnham-on-sea.com/news/2009/toyota-oasis-stuck-550.jpg

As you might remember the guy went fishing and when he returned to his car found it underwater, well four tides later it was burried up to the windows :D

Click here (http://www.burnham-on-sea.com/news/2009/honda-4x4-retrieved-06-08-09.php) for more removal pictures and a great 2 minute video.

Funny thing is talking to one of the recovery guys he said the owner thought he was going to drive it home after they pulled it out

I'd like to see any car drive after being in the water for four tide cycles.

You'd think for 3000 pounds ($5133.20) they could have rehooked the chains to save a little sheet metal for salvage.

Lazy louts.

Maybe they could show the video to people that want to park on the sand and go fishing, maybe some will get the idea.
Not likely.

I'm wondering when Dereck is going to branch out and invest in some towing equipment. :)

Ive seen similar things around these parts when cars get stuck halfway in ice in inland lakes... one was a blazer, looks perfect save the front 1/3 in ice... by the time they were done pulling it out... not one panel was undamaged....looked like it rolled down a rocky hill...just must be something to do with it being stuck that fast..

Okay - so in theory a high-pressure water jet "could" cut through the muck rather quickly. Supply an additional flow of water - if/as needed - and with a portable (home made) dredge "pump" the muck can be ejected a good distance from the vehicle. Use three or four water jets to reduce time.

IF you can get down to the wheel level it would seem - theoretically - the rest of the extraction would be "easy-peasy"...

Be a whole lot of fun at the very least!

Something along these lines would well be worth the effort at the current extraction price!

Of course - a cheaper alternative would be very tall tire-bungee spikes guaranteed to slice/dice your tires as you head for the friggin ocean like a turtle in the first place!

Hi

After the car has been under the tide it is scrap anyway so pulling it out undamaged is hardly a concern :)

Please keep these photos/stories coming! I wonder what these people were thinking! Can't wait for the next one, will it be a car, truck or suv? Maybe a motor home? I would like to see a photo of the warning signs that I am sure are posted.

So I saw where they flushed out a Toyota PU after being left in the tide. I suppose you could flush out the drive train, ship it over here to the Good ol USA and Trade it in as a Clunker. Might get $3500.00 for it.;)
