I can put you in contact with a guy who rebuilds those stock radios if you'd like yours fixed. Unfortunately a used radio is probably going to quit on you eventually, and likely for the same reason the original quit. The capacitors fail in them, and they just stop working.
And yeah, the mounting changed in 1990. Need an 88-89 radio. 87 and older were different units.

In addition to what Sonny said, all 1984 to 1986 and possibly 1987 cars have common ground stereos that do not interchange at any component level with newer and aftermarket systems.

The 1990+ use these little tools that push in through the faceplate to remove the radio. Its a latch sort of assembly, and as far as I can tell its riveted to the side of the radio. The older ones have actual brackets that screw on, and screw to the dash of the car.

Ford, you have you PMs turned off so I couldn't respond to yours.
$15 then add shipping.
I just took pictures of it. You can see how the connections look. I notice a sticker that says it was repaired on 10/29/97. Also a sticker that says made in Canada. Rock on! I know this stereo works. I couldn't help but play with the car before parting it out. I had a mix tape I listened to. Let me know if these pictures don't work.

These were not the best radios, they were typical OEM. There have been some worthy OEM radios, but these don't fall in that class.
My first SE worked great, but I gave that radio to my friend, and he has had a few die on him. My latest never worked right since I got the car, plus it has the small amp instead of the high end stuff. I'm going to yank the OEM wires, there are way too many, and install a good aftermarket radio with blue tooth and steering wheel controls, plus a Nakamichi amp etc.

The same aftermarket Pioneer unit that was in my '86 Cont'l went DIRECTLY into my '90 SE without modification or re-wiring. And the SE needed no peg removal tool for the original radio.
