If you remember my 2007 Designer had a fuel gauge issue. When refueled, the needle and miles to empty would not update. It took about 20 miles for the needle to hit full and miles to empty to hit 450.The fuel sender was bad and was replaced. Just took my wife's 08 Grand Marquis in for the same issue. The fuel needle would not update when refueling OR it would go to full but not show a lower level after driving. In fact the miles to empty would increase. Then at 200 miles or so, the needle would drop to 1/2 with miles to empty showing 260. They replaced the fuel sender. Both of our cars had this failure around 22,000 miles. When I made the appointment, they checked their stock on this part. They had several and stock these as there are problems. Just a heads up that Dealers are stocking these parts in my area due to failures. I do not know the extent of model years involved but my dealer replaces 2 to 4 monthly.
