When you watch this series of videos in their entirety you have to be nothing but impressed with the new MKS

I like the V8 soundtrack in the background for the Duratec Lincoln. I'll make sure to consider the MKS if I ever move to some place with thin air like Loveland pass.

Now I remember why I don't read Automobile or Motor Trend anymore, pimping for the carmakers makes them lose most (if not all) of their credibility.

I'd care more if the engine was strapped to the DEW98 chassis.

The fact still remains that day to day, I'd rather have one of the competitors. Is Lincoln targeting Buick or Cadillac? The stodgy Wreath and Crest has moved on (and well after much commitment), but Lincoln is still trying to find itself. They don't have any credible competitor to the hot entry-level luxury segment and the rest of the portfolio is still catered to an aging and shrinking market who has also embraced imports these last few years.

We've gotten an invite to see the MKS. I'll attend and see what the fuss is about. From what I can tell on paper, I'm not impressed. Overweight, under-suspended, and driving the wrong wheels, the MKS sounds like it will be a lackluster seller. The Genesis 4.6 is a better competitor to the segment. Woe to the Lincoln fans.

This one is shopping elsewhere, even for a used car.

To each his own I guess. Maybe I'm struggling to stay interested in Lincolns amidst all these new cars they have came out with. I'll still drive my Mark VIII any day over an MKS....i'm just sayin'. Wouldn't mind having one for a winter beater that way I wouldn't fall asleep behind the wheel like I do when I hop in my 18 yr. old Townie every winter. :p Then again, I'll bet the MKS would be a hard start in the winter long before my Townie ever would.

I'll still drive my Mark VIII any day over any car in it's original price range, lol :) I've been stopped by many people in parking lots, at stop lights, etc, waxing poetic about the one(s) they had back in the day. I've said it again and again: if Ford would build it again, I'd buy it again

None before and precious few since go down the road the way that thing does, even approaching 12 years old and closing in on 100K faster than I'd like.

That said, I wouldn't say no to an MKS or MKZ if it wanted to go home with me. They're technological masterpieces that deserve some respect even if they don't deserve the asking price.

Much like the FWD Contis, they'll be really appealing at the bottom of the depreciation curve. Just gotta wait another decade!

Oh, no! The V8s are way too difficult to work on under the hood to be worth collecting. Even this pack rat has drawn a line in the sand. Save the engine and ditch the car. :D

Who'd you off to get the car? Or perhaps it was from a former Goldman Sachs employee... Nice buy!

If I can't find a 540i, I'm tempted to get an LS, but the auto is a deal breaker for me right now, especially since I don't drive in traffic constantly.

Hey, I didn't say collectable. I meant more along the lines of drive it until it dies, then scrap it.

When I was at the Lincoln dealership a couple weeks ago, I was checking out the new MKS. There is a lot of room inside, and I really don't mind the styling. I don't think I would be so hip to buying one new, but I would probably consider it as a Certified used car in a couple years. My commute is a PITA with the 6 speed, so an auto would be welcome. There was a good bit of room in teh front and rear seat. That is very much unlike my Cadillac.

I agree with this train of thought 100%. At a few years older than yours and double the mileage, I will still take mine over most new cars. Especially at a fraction of the price.

Now that I've seen a few MKS' up close, I can honestly say I like the way it turned out. Yes, the styling is a tad generic, but it's cool with me. It is definitely a car that I could see myself buying a few years down the road, tune it for a bit more power and otherwise drive it every day.
