Hey everybody.
I am brand new to this forum, after just having purchased my first Lincoln. It's a 1990 Conti, with only 65k original miles, and has been garaged all of it's life. I'm really happy to have found you guys. this is THE BEST car site I have ever seen, and I owned a Jeep Wrangler for fifteen years. I thought those guys were into it, but-- Wow.
Anyway, here's my problem. I know the compressor is still alive, because the front end is up way too high. The ass end is on the tires, without even a full inch to spare, and I'm getting the dash warning every few minutes. (That's not annoying at all, right?)
I was told that resetting the computer might let me get some air into the back end, even if the rear struts are leaking. Is this true? If it is how do I do it?
Like everyone else, I'm in a rough spot these days, cash wise. I bought this car because my previous POS died suddenly after bleeding me for months.
I need to to do whatever diagnosis I can before I start buying parts and hiring people, and I need to get it right the first time. I'm not much of a mechanic, so DIY isn't going to happen, and I'm a traveling teacher in Los Angeles, so there are a lot of places I wouldn't want want to get stranded unexpectedly.
I can see why people love these cars so much-- BUT what I miss the most about my Wrangler right now are the two things my 'new' Lincoln doesn't seem to have... Cheap parts, and problems any idiot with a ratchet set can solve with a free weekend and enough beer. Please Help Me!
