Does anyone know if the 1986 and 1987 town car hood emblem are the same? Thanks, Tom

If you are talking about the Lincoln star mounted on top of the grill, they should be. The slimmer/taller star didn't debut until 88 on the Town Car if I remember correctly.

Thanks. I'm looking on ebay and found a nice used star from an 86, which I want for my 87. I do see the slimmer ones from 88 and 89 as you say, but the 86 is still wide like my 87.
Then I found a brand new OEM going cheap which looks like the fat one, but the seller doesn't have any idea for what years it's for, but does list a ford part # of EOVY-16850-A If anyone happens to be able to tell by the part # on this one and if it will work on my 87 this would be my first choice.
Thanks again, Tom

The seller just confirmed also that the one from the 86 will fit my 87 so I am going for it and not bothering with the brand new one. I think I can get it cheap and ther are no pits.
If anyone else is interested in the nos new one the item # on ebay is 16097826652 with start bid at 9.99 and reserve not met and 6.55 to ship.

yes. 1980-1987 have the big star. 88+ is the skinny one. E0 is the 1980 part number, L meaning Lincoln division, and I think Y means exterior trim or something.
Tried that auction number, but I got no results. I'm looking for an NOS one to add to my box of "to be installed with the paint job" parts. Would you mind double checking it for me if you don't want it?
**edit, found it**
Holy S, NOS dash pads! $400 though. Glad I found a perfect one.

I rechecked. item # is 160397826652 and it comes from CT
it is listed specifically as nos Lincoln hood emblem ornament
The other # could have been wrong on my end....hopefully this works for you. at 9.99 current bid reserve not met yet?? . Tom
p.s I ended up buying another one on ebay with no pits for $4.99 plus 2.90 for shipping. I should be happy with it. Mine broke off last winter, I believe from the pressure of the wind while the car was under a car cover....or....somebody snapped it off. I have both pieces but it won't weld back.
