The FPDM quit on my 95 Continental. I went to a wrecker and took one off another 95, it was the same number as the one that quit, F5Y 9D372 A. Everything works fine. Today I went to another wrecker because I wanted to get a spare. I removed it from another 95 Continental but the number is different F50F 9D370 AD. The units are identical in appearance with the same wire receptacle. Can anybody explain this? Is it possible that I might wreck something if I try it out? Any help would be appreciated.

If you went back to the junk yard and looked @ the build dates of the 2 wrecks in ?, you might find that the dates are far enough apart - 3-6 months - that Ford had either updated the module or changed suppliers.
They have been infamous in the past for making running changes during a model run.
As a control, call an aftermarket parts place like NAPA and tell them you need 1, and see if they ask you for a VIN # or build date.
