The overwhelming concensus is that the money spent for ANY over the counter chip could be better spent elsewhere.
At least in reference to EEC-IV and a stock(ish) engine.

The EEC-IV engine management system is fairly well tuned for the stock set up. Not much can be had out of it as the system itself doesn't control that much in comparison to a newer system. A chip basically changes the ignition timing and maybe a couple other parameters. These are things you can do on your own to net the same result. If you need the system modified because you have changed a lot on the engine, a Tweecer or dyno tune would be best able to optimize your engine management.

My system is still speed density. I have one from SCT,that basically plugs inline with the stock PCM. The guy that i got it from told me that the chip only functions, and changes some mapping, and timing perameters at W.O.T. The only thing thats i have noticed,is how it feels like it has a little more pull at upper RPM ranges, and my speed limiter is eliminated.... Thats all that i have noticed....before i changed my gears,i had 3.27's. My Mark topped out at 130 MPH. Because of the governor. After i installed the module,i was able to go well over 140,just about getting ready to hit 145 before i let off.....But there was still plenty more......But i don't know anyone who even drives that fast,so i guess its pointless....lol

Over 140 w/more left in it?
Is it stock? I had no idea these old heaps had that kind of top end

They pull better than you might think. I can peg my 120 speedo, but I've never really checked it against the gps. I did once confirm that 120 on the speedo was 115 on the gps. It goes a hell of a lot faster than I will routinely drive it at, and its bone stock with 230k on it. With ported heads and intakes, it would really run strong.

Well i know its not right to go that fast on the highway,But it was at 3 A.M.and nobody was around.....So the first time that i hit my limiter at 130,i was running with a friend of mine who has a 2002 Camaro SS. He was pulling me of course, but i told him to stay with me to see how fast we were going. That was the speed that he was telling that we were doing at that time. And were dead even, plus my speedo was already passed my 120 mph reading, pegging the plastic frame. I dont have any kind of stopper for my speedo needle. So the next time we did again after i installed the chip, and was keeping up with him a little better this time, we were already almost going to hit 145 and then i let off......Thats the speed he told me we were doing.....

how much was done to your car before you installed the chip and hit 145?

Everything in my sig, minus the stall converter, and gears. It still had 3.27's at that time.....

Well he was always able to pull from a dead stop. He has headers,an intake,a 3800 stall converter, and 3.55 gears..... Other than that its stock.....He has flowtech race mufflers, and dam his car sounds really nice..... Really LOUD to.........lol
