Bill at SCP also sent me Thunderbird shockmounts, I'm not sure if this will present a problem or not, as I was going with his experience on the part ordering side of it. Besides this spacer crafting, will there be anything else that I might consider a snag? |

dont forget about the...
Kyle...I replied on the other message board.
I've done 10+ coil conversion using different kits, manufacturers, fabbed my own ride height shims for the rear LCA's, and upper locators, etc. if you have any questions, including THE one MOST important thing people forget about is MODIFYING the rear sway bar mounts, and how to do so if installing an aftermarket sway bar AND/OR lowering the car. Kyle...PM sent

Rally, the car looks nice. Good job. I notice the rebound you are speaking of, but only in the front. I used the Bilsteins and a 1-3/8 sway bar in the rear. I'm thinking about using the Koni inserts in the front to stop the rebound issue. I need to hear from someone that has experience with them. Anyway, I've been following the thread to see when you were going to install the conversion. Congrats!

Thanks USM,
The more I drive the car, the more I am pleased with the conversion. When I first drove the car, I had the radio off, and was listening for every little squeak and rattle. I didn't quite know what to think about it. But, now that I am driving it to work and hitting all the usual bumps and potholes and R/R crossings, I am convinced that it was well worth the time, effort and money. Now, when I turn on city streets, the car seems to take the transitions of the crowned asphalt much smoother. Even at higher speeds. I don't get the side-to-side rocking that I was getting and the car settles itself after turns much sooner than it did prior. The Sensa-Tracs did a great job of stabilizing the car, compared to the worn out original units, that were still on the car.

After 3 weeks of driving on my new "Sprung" combination I took some measurements. Right after installation I had 28 5/8" in the front and 29 1/16" in the rear. Today I checked and after everything has settled and worn in, I now have 28 7/16" in the front and 28 9/16" in the rear. As you can see, the rubber in the bearing plates and the rear spacers do compress after some driving. I am happier with the stance of the car now. It actually seems to ride a tad better as well. Oops, I almost forgot, right before tear down on the air bag system I had W/W heights of 28 3/16" in the front and 28 5/8" in the rear. So, after the conversion, I am pretty close to what I had previously.
