LED interior lights on 2003 LTC and above, Who's done it?

As the quesiton says, LED interior lights on 2003 LTC and above, Who's done it?

I have read thru all the post in this forum( man! took a long time). I have seen some led conversion for the tail lights and one changed the map lights to LED with ready made plug in festoon LED-bulb. Other than that there is no info on if anyone done it to 03 and above LTC's.

I'm interested in finding out the following.

Did LED installation effected how the lights dims when you close the doors?
How is the ambiance with all LED's installed?
Did the Map lights better ? Provide more lights ?
Did you also changed out the trunk and hood lights?
Did any of the above triggered the dash warning (lights out?)
Where/who was the source ? Ebay, website, offshore? etc.

I know that you need some kind of intervention if you want to replace running/side markers/stop lights with LEDs so it/they don't trigger the dash warning lights.

Please chime in and participate in the poll!!

Thanks!

I used the festoon plug in style on mine...Cool white in the front, and natural in the rear.

Really did not make too big of a change, lights light normally and dim as before. Just a pure nicer light IMO.

By the way, I prefer the natural white color it has a warmer feel and plan on switching the front over soon.

I'd got for it, because I love the white LEDs on Navigators/Aviators/Zephyrs/MKXs and I am pretty pissed at Ford for not doing the same with the Town Car. If you do it, write down all the bulb sizes, how many you need for the entire car and where you installed each bulb. It'd make a great TECH article for our database.

Strange poll

LED are the future, but it's not the same as neon.

Like to find some LED for the fog lights that are really bright

I wonder how Silverstars would perform. Don't they have Silverstar bulbs for interior lights too and curb-cornering lights?

And I know how long silverstars perform. Which means they are junk that you never, ever use.

Not yet. I have been looking and they can replace the DRL but not funtion as highbeams nor driving/fog lights. Unless ---- you start spending uber bucks.

I saw these only for headlight bulb replacements. Some like and some just hates them. I won't be getting one as I have the Rallye 65watters. Still its not enough for me when I'm driving on a road with no lights at all.

Do they even make one with LEDs? I think that you want a regular helogens, not LEDs for these.

Update: I have received a few 30 led strips (some SMD and some regular leds) to replace footwell lamps and trunk lamps. Have not installed them yet. I'll update when I do it.
Anyone know if you will be saving on gas money after having all the possible lights replaced with LEDs?

Have fun

found an interesting article here : http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/090906.html

Quote:
In a gas vehicle, a complete LED exterior system would save the driver between $5 and $17 in fuel costs per year, based on a 15,000-km annual driving cycle.
Not really sure if any expense of LEDs will be returned for interior lights in terms of Gas savings. One big issue is I need the map lights (overhead console) to be brighter!!

Regards.
