2002 Continental PATS problem

My 2002 Continental decided this morning that it didn't want to go for a ride.
For some unknown reason it thought I (the owner) was trying to steal it.
To make sure that me (the owner) couldn't drive it out of it's garage, it turned on it's PATS.
Now it sits there, a useless 3900 pound chunk of metal and plastic, with it's useless little red light blinking away.

With the battery at 12.63 VDC I know it will start if the PATS lets it.
I tried every trick and suggestion that I could find, multiple times, including disconnecting the battery three or four times.
I even whacked the starter motor a few times for the fun of it.

The car is in very good condition with 83000 miles on the clock.
It used to run great until this morning.
I'll fiddle with it over the weekend. If anyone knows of any super secret tricks, I would like to hear them.
Otherwise it will be onto the flat bed and over to Mr. Mechanic on Monday.

Dang that sucks. To have a car hat ain’t broke that won’t start. I haven’t had that issue, no alarm on mine. But I assumed that at this point if it is the alarm, it’ll have to get put on a programmer. One thing that could be an issue is a door jam sensor could be sticky. Or the door lock cylinder switch. Just suggestions but mine don’t have the alarm on it to ever had had the issue. Cause if it did, I’m sure I would have had to learn all about it.

Try another key if you have one. Use key in door lock on driver's door to lock and unlock a few times.

Use keyfob to lock unlock too.

Put charger on it and leave key in ignition and in on position for a while...You can google relearn procedure..maybe it applies to yours.

My “problem” with the PATS not letting the car, start fixed itself when it got a new battery.

In other words – the stupid senile owner (me) – who should know better, wrote off a bad battery because the sitting voltage was 12.6VDC, and ASSUMED it was the PATS.

The stupid senile owner (me) knows that battery voltage can read good, but not have enough amp capacity to turn a starter motor.
He has known this for over 50 years.
The stupid senile owner (me) has learned his lesson, and from now on, will restrict himself to turning the key and driving.

So it wasn't just disconnecting the battery which made it work? Was just a fresh battery that fixed it? Good job.
