1996 LSC Headlight

Hi everyone!

I just bought a 96 LSC and the previous owners converted the HID lights and housings to standard halogen. They bought a brand new set of Ford housings and they look great, are still bright and haven't burned the reflective panel too bad. My question is how do I keep it this way? I'm considering an hid conversion into these housings but I've also read about "venting" the housings to keep things cooler but nothing on the best way to do this. The car will not see a lot of night time driving as I will use the Town Car for lengthy trips but I'm trying to prevent going to candle light if possible. I've searched the forum on venting and haven't found any instructions or information about how they did it, so forgive me if I missed something. I've also read that others have had good luck with hid conversion kits but would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks In advance!

I am open to all options...I'm going to educate myself a bit on the HIR bulbs, thanks for the response!

To be honest, if its not going to see a lot of night time driving, don't worry about it. It's going to take many years of constant use to get the top/rear of the inside to burn off. Just make sure the auto light switch is off.

I was thinking the same thing to be honest, turned the auto switch off because the lights ran all morning until the sun was nice and bright. I noticed when looking thru the front lenses that the reflectors have a small burn spot in the top and the bottom on each side but nothing terrible. I ordered a Kensun HID kit and might see how they look in there. I have one HID housing and bulb I pulled from the junkyard years ago and if I can find the other (driver side) I will convert back to the stock LSC hid housings.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I'm very pleased with the HID kit I slapped in, cost 59.00 shipped and has a 2 year warranty. Was pretty easy to install as I just wired the ballasts into the original ballast power lines, hooked the bulbs up and was done. The light out put is excellent and I attribute that primarily to having very nice halogen housings. Plus once I wired this conversion kit in I was able to lose the "check exterior lamps" warning. I will work on getting a pic to post so you guys can see how they look. I ordered the 35w 5k color kit. I know having the proper LSC housings will go a long way but the halogen housings are putting out a nice pattern and aren't blinding to on coming traffic (I had my wife drive the car towards me on our deadend road to see how it looked for oncoming traffic).
