Rewiring driving/fog lights

Hello everyone, I have searched the archives/looked in the factory shop manual for a simple way to rewire the driving lights with no luck.
I would prefer to to get to the relay with the option of using the factory switch.
Any insight and locations of components would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The dash switch is fed through the main light supply and a relay.
What this means is the driving lights will not work when the headlites are on high beam.
Install a seperate fused relay supply and a seperate relay off the battery then disconnect the wiring to the dash switch and use it as a 'ground complete' switch by making the relay winding hot at the relay and using only one lead to the dash switch and making a ground at the switch to complete the circuit to the relay winding.
Any problem with the driving lights or circuit will blow the fuse or you can remove the fuse until any issue is fixed.
Don't forget to turn them off as they are now manuel control and not involved with the headlite operation unless you still make them so.

Thank you Bluegrass, do you know where the relay is for the lights. I wanted to be able to turn on the driving lights only or in conjunction with parking lights.Where can I find a schematic.

Look up my name on the search function. I posted a very simple method to do this a few years ago. It is only about a 5-minute, one wire modification.

This is the diagram of fog lamp circuits from an '89 EVTM: http://thelincolnmarkviiclub.org/Gal...4/Foglamps.jpg

There is no relay only for the factory fog lamps themselves. Just the high/low beam relay in the circuit. I wired my fog lights to operate independantly. Took fused, ignition controlled (w/ another relay) power from the starter solonoid through a relay to the lamps. My new dedicated fog lamp switch triggered the relay I installed. I ran the feed from the factory fog lamp harness to the relay also. This way they operated w/ the original switch as well as the one I installed. I use a pos. signal to trip the new fog lamp relay. By using an ignition source, they can't be left on when the engine is off.

Only rewire the fog lights if the headlights and fog lights have relays installed. Too much current passes through the switch and it will cause the fuse to routinely blow. Eventually, the switch goes completely. This isn't personal experience, but I warned someone else and they proved my theory.
