15.6-ish at around 88 or so is the norm, IIRC.

I disagree.
He can't do better than 16.25 with that set up and even ~that~ time will be with a tail wind and down hill. I wager one grande from Starbucks.

Umm, why not. I'm tempted to take your wager but I believe Starbucks and Wally World are both signs of the apocolypse. How about strip joint bucks ?

Oldschool is right. Under 16 secs with stock gears, convertor, motor, catback, etc? The fastest recorded time I saw was 16.1@88, so I'd go with that. 1986 LSC's aren't that much slower than the 1988-ups.
That, and I thought the world was coming to an end when I saw a starbucks across the street from another starbucks here in Houston. Its been years and we are all still here. [ June 23, 2005: Message edited by: pro-five-oh ]

I'm a timeslip Nazi so I'm going to say anything better than 16.0 would be astounding. He has a blass with 3.08 open rear and 15" stock tires....

John - You went 15.5 @ 87 with just an ignition module, chip and a cold air intake..at least according to this:

What mods have to be done to get into the low 13's?

New motor with ported E7 heads, Explorer intake, 65mm TB, 70mm EGR spacer, Comp Cams cam, 1.6RR (that were just taken out for some 1.72s), 24# injectors, 75mm MAF, 5 speed swap and 4.10s are pretty much it.
I'll get some low 13s if I ever spring some some stickier tires lol |

Damn those are some pretty serious mods. There is no way I can get low 13's with this:
1. Rebuilt 5.0 HO (stock camshaft) 2. Brodix heads (and other mods needed to use these heads) 3. MAF 4. Kenne Belle blower 5. AOD (shift kit) 6. 3.7's in the rear |

why would you put an all new motor in with brodix heads, a kenne bell and only a stock cam?? seems like a big waste of money to me, but then again, what the hell do i know??

I heard somewhere that the stock cam works excellent with the Kenne Bell. Also Brodix claims the stock cam, springs etc...will work fine with their heads.

I went back to the track yesterday my buddy has an 88 mustang gt he was kind enough to let me use his BBK fenderwall cold air intake I manually shifted everytime and I ran 15.5 @88 so what else can I do that is kinda inexpensive that will lower my time

Dang! Well I'm glad to see I was wrong!
LS: 3.73s are overkill if you go with a Kenne Bell. Stock cam is fine, will make it a real sleeper and a real nice place to spend time in traffic.

How inexpensive?
Best free/cheap mods are opening up your exhaust system (gut cats, remove air silencer, headers, home made cai, if you dont want to spend the money, etc) Remove weight (all that bs insulation, underhood, trunk, under seats, etc) Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air, fuel, tuneup, etc. Then u can always go to engine upgrades, trans/drivetrain upgrades, and so on, just depends on what you want to spend and what you want your car to be.

NVM, i just saw you already removed your air silencer and added flowmasters.
Open up that exhaust and loose some weight, that'll get you started in the right direction.

Like we discussed at breakfast, the Billy Blass didn't leave the factory with a 225hp motor until 1991. In 1988, he was pushing 200 hp unmodded. 17 years and 100,000 miles later, there is hp loss but Dude adds one intake mod and one exhaust mod and bingo, it's 1988 all over again. If he beats 16.25 as modded above, I'll be a coffee buying fotherMucker
