Pinging problem

1988 tc 5.0 pings when engine is warmed up. Does not when cold and under richer mixer. tried using best premium 92oct but think it is a sensor that controls fuel mix. had timing checked and it is ok.

Try a can of injector cleaner and let us know. I wonder if an injector is not spraying well enough?

Has the fuel filter been replaced? Have you checked the timing to make sure its where it belongs?

If neither of those help, you can try pulling codes to see if it tells you anything useful.

my 89 would ping just as you were halfway up a hill until you got the pedal far enough down. the mechanic had my timing too low to try and save fuel mileage. you can adujust the timing a little by turning the distributor.
