After lowering my LSC about 1"+ by slotting the lowest mounting
hole downward nearly 1 diameter, I had insufficient camber adjustment
in the front suspension (the top of the strut couldn't be moved
outward far enough).
I had purchased KYB struts and had bought the mounts with
them. These mounts were roughly 30% or less of the cost of the
multi-adjustable aftermarket camber / strut mount plate assemblies.
- Struts KYB GR-2 # KYB 235008
- Mounts - KYB SM5054
These are hard to find strut mounts & boots! (KYB also makes
boots for use with these mounts: KYB SB103 strut boots about $13.) The
GR-2 struts are a little firmer than stock, but not the real firm
"sport" type suspension as with the KYB Gas-Adjust 5-way adjustable
shocks.
I saw that the part that fits through the hole in the strut tower
was smaller than the stock mount, leaving some room for outward adjustment.
As seen in the photo, I slotted the 2 mounting holes (using
a 3/8" drill
with a rotary cutter) nearly 1 stud diameter to the outside, reamed
the outside edge of the large hole about 1/8", and drilled
a 3rd hole in the indexing plate for the rivet. This allowed
the strut mount to be adjusted outward enough to regain proper
camber with the lowered suspension at a savings of between
$50 to $75.
