95 - 97 TOWN CAR DASH PANEL REMOVAL
Submitted by white lincoln / 06-27-05

Tools You Will Need

  • One ¼” end standard screwdriver
The simulated wood grain upper panel and lower panel are one unit and are removed as such. On the far right of the panel, on the side of the dash, there is a section where a screw driver can be placed.
Let's Get Started
  1. Use a ¼” flat head screwdriver and slide it in between the panel and the dash, pry it open until it pops. Leave the screwdriver wedged in. This is the first clip.

  2. While holding the panel out slightly with you fingers to keep it open, slide you fingers to the left as far as you can. The next clip is about 12” to the left of the right edge.

  1. Now that the right end is loose, you can use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to pop off the panel working from right to left and then use both hands to pop off the area around the Temperature Control Panel.

  1. There is one more clip at the left end of the panel next to the gear shift lever. Use your hand to pop it off or wiggle it out. BE CAREFUL NOT TO YANK ON THE PANEL! DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS COULD OCCUR!

Disconnect the Select button for the display panel by pressing on the tab in (bottom of connector) and wiggling the connector out. Take your time in removing it. A hard jerk could damage the wiring.

TO RE-INSTALL THE PANEL

Hold the panel up to the dash and connect the switches.

Starting at the left end of the panel, place the clip at its slot and carefully lay the panel over the dash and line up the clips and guide posts into their sockets.

With your hand press the left end in first, followed by the Temperature Control area with both hands then the right middle clip and then the right end clip. It may need some coaxing and may not fall in place easily, just give a gentle shove and it will pop back into place.

REMEMBER TO WATCH THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WIRES TO ENSURE THEY STAY BEHIND THE PANEL AND DO NOT GET PINCHED BETWEEN THE PANEL AND THE DASH.
